Rental Terms

All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive upon booking confirmation or at the time of vehicle collection. This document outlines the specific terms, conditions, insurance provisions, charges, and your obligations for the rental. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement prevails.

Eligibility Criteria

Renting a vehicle requires:

• To hire a vehicle in Middleton, drivers must be at least 21 years old, although age restrictions can differ based on the vehicle type, with extra charges applicable for drivers under 25. A valid driving licence, appropriate for the chosen vehicle category and held for the minimum duration stated in the Rental Agreement, is required. Additionally, valid identification and proof of current address must be presented, along with acceptable payment information and a security deposit. Any further requirements listed in the Rental Agreement must also be met.

Booking and Payment Process

• Reservations can be made via our website, by telephone, or in person at our Middleton office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. The remaining balance and security deposit are usually payable upon vehicle pickup. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, processed securely through trusted payment providers.

Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off

• At the time of collection, it is important to conduct a thorough inspection of the vehicle and report any pre-existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be prepared and signed by both parties. The vehicle must be returned in the same condition as it was picked up, taking into account normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and charged appropriately. Ensure the vehicle is returned with the same fuel level as received; refueling charges will apply if the fuel level is lower. Late returns may result in additional fees, so please contact us if you expect a delay. You will be responsible for any parking fines, traffic violations, or charges incurred during your rental period, along with an administrative fee.

Insurance Coverage and Responsibility

• All car rentals include basic third-party insurance. You can find full coverage information and excess amounts in your Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be available to lower your financial liability. It's beneficial to review these options closely. You remain liable for any damage or loss up to the excess amount unless additional insurance is purchased. Damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms will be your responsibility, irrespective of insurance coverage.

Cancellation and Modifications

Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice period provided. For precise information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or no-shows may incur additional charges.

Prohibited Activities

Prohibited Vehicle Uses

• The vehicle must not be used for any illegal activities. This includes racing, rallying, off-roading, or any other risky endeavors. Transporting hazardous materials is prohibited. Sub-letting the vehicle or permitting unauthorized drivers is not allowed. Operating the vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly forbidden. The vehicle should only be used for its intended purposes, and it is imperative to adhere to passenger and weight limits. Driving beyond the agreed geographical boundaries requires prior approval.

Breach of these terms may lead to rental termination and extra fees.

Liability Limitations

To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Middleton Car Hire will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims is capped at the amount you paid for your rental in the prior 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury due to negligence or for fraud.

9. Legal Framework

These Terms are regulated by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes will fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in this region.

10. Amendments to Terms

We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect immediately upon posting on our website. Continued use of our services indicates your acceptance of the revised Terms.
