All vehicle rentals in Middleton are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which will be provided at the time of booking confirmation or vehicle pickup. In the event of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.

- To rent a vehicle from Car Hire in Middleton, you must be at least 21 years old, though age limits may vary based on vehicle type, with extra fees applicable for drivers under 25. A valid full driving licence appropriate for the vehicle category is required, along with valid identification and proof of address. Additionally, valid payment details and a security deposit are necessary. Please review the Rental Agreement for any further requirements.
3. Reservations and Payment Options
- Reservations can be made via our website, over the phone, or directly at our Middleton office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. The total payment, along with a security deposit, is generally required at the time of vehicle pick-up. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, with transactions handled securely by established payment processors.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of vehicle collection, a thorough inspection is required. Any pre-existing damage must be reported immediately. A vehicle condition report will be generated and signed by both parties to document its state. The vehicle should be returned in the same condition as it was received, allowing for normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and additional charges may apply. Please ensure the fuel level matches what it was at collection, as refueling fees will be assessed if it is returned with less fuel. Late returns may incur extra charges, so please contact us promptly if you expect a delay. You will be responsible for any parking fines, traffic violations, or other charges incurred during your rental, along with an administration fee.
Insurance and Liability Terms
- All rentals include basic third-party insurance. You can find full coverage details and excess amounts in your Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options are offered to lower your financial liability. Reviewing these options is beneficial. You remain liable for any damage or loss up to the insurance excess, unless covered by extra insurance. Damage resulting from negligence or misuse falls under your responsibility, regardless of insurance status.
6. Modifications and Cancellations
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice period provided. For precise information, consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Please be aware that late cancellations or failure to show up may incur additional charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Restrictions on Vehicle Use
- The vehicle may not be used for any illegal activities or purposes. Engaging in racing, rallying, off-roading, or other risky behaviors is prohibited. Transporting hazardous materials or sub-letting the vehicle to others is not allowed. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, or using the vehicle beyond its intended purpose or established passenger and weight limits, is strictly forbidden. Additionally, operating the vehicle outside of the agreed geographical boundaries without prior authorization is not permitted.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental termination and extra fees.
Limitation of Responsibility
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Car Hire Middleton will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, related to your use of our services. Our total liability for any claim will not exceed the amount you paid for the rental in the prior 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury resulting from negligence or fraud.
Applicable Law in Middleton
These Terms are regulated by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes will fall under the jurisdiction of the relevant English and Welsh courts.
